Learning a new language can open a door to opportunities. It teaches us about culture, the beauty of words and can change your life. However, we can face many obstacles during our studies, be it confusing grammar, difficult pronunciation or remembering the many exceptions and inconsistencies that come with language. This, naturally, can affect motivation and make it feel impossible to succeed.
Perhaps you're a beginner looking to improve your skills or maybe you're an advanced student who simply wants to gain more confidence. We are here to help keep you motivated and master confidence.
Keep your goals achievable and be fair to yourself!
Setting clear goals gives you direction. You can start by breaking language into smaller tasks. One way of doing this, is to focus on learning and using just ten new words a week. Stick to a theme, maybe Past Participle verbs or learn vocabulary for Kitchen utensils or sports. (Many of which you can find on our social media platforms)
Research shows that learners who track their progress are 30% more likely to reach their language goals, as they can celebrate small achievements that boost their confidence.
What's your learning style?
How do you like to learn? What helps you? Is it fun games, is it a classroom setting where you can communicate with others? Do you prefer writing assignments or reading interesting articles? Once you understand your learning style, you'll enjoy your studies much more. We all learn differently and thrive in different environments, so do what's best for you. Here at 'Learn English DXB' we personalise your classes to give you the best oppourtunity and environment to both thrive and have fun.

Start a Language Diary
Keeping diaries or journals can help keep us motivated in many ways, be it our personal life or our work and it's the same for your English Journey. Write all the new words you've learnt that week, practice them in sentences. Make notes about your experiences in class or during your day. Perhaps something you learnt provoked thoughts on a topic you want to learn more about or showed you similarities and differences in to your own language. This helps us to see how far we have come and gives us a record of what we have learnt.
Recognise your own achievements
How about setting yourself some targets and then rewarding those achievements. You may choose to treat yourself to your favourite snacks, or a fun day out. No matter how big or small the reward is, you should recognise your progress.
Research has shown that rewarding yourself can increase motivation by up to 45%, making you more likely to stick with your learning plan.
